Nicola Sergio gets a degree in Economics and a diploma in Classical Piano, Jazz, Music Teaching at the Conservatory of Perugia. Determined to realize his dreams and to live music, in 2008 he moves to Paris, the capital of European jazz. Here he gets the Dem Jazz at the CNR in 2009. In 2010, his recording containing his compositions is selected by the Dutch label CHALLENGE INTERNATIONAL RECORDS, which offers him immediately an exclusive artist contract for the production of three albums to be distributed in Europe, the US, Japan and Korea. The Italian pianist does not miss the opportunity and with these three works, released between 2010 and 2016, achieves wide acclaim by the major French dailies (Telerama, Liberation) and the International criticism (JazzMagazine Jazzman, Jazznews, Piano, Jazzthetic, Ensuitekulturmagazin, Horeindruck, Jazzthing, Jazzthetik, Netherlans Dagblad, Pianowereld, magazine, Jazzit, Jazz Music, Andy, Jazzitalia, Jazz Convention). There are also several specific awards for each CD: Jazzit Awards 2010 (Italy) in the categories Best International Disc (Critics Award) and Best Italian composer (audience award) for the cd Symbols; Best Piano Trio in 2012 (Korea) and 4 Star JazzMagazine Jazzman (France) for the CD Illusions; Must TSF Jazz (France) and Best Albums 2015 for the magazine Jazzthetik (Germany) for the cd Migrants. His music has been made popular thanks to the most important European jazz radios and many of his songs are part of the playlists of Air France airline. In 2016 he released the album Cilea mon amour, jazz style revisiting of the main arias by the composer Francesco Cilea, recorded in 2009 for young and enterprising Milan label NAU RECORDS. Since 2010 he has been performing regular concerts in clubs, theaters and festivals in France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Sweden, Spain and Turkey, working with musicians including Stéphane Kercecki, Fabrice Moreau, Joe Quitzke, Xavier Desandre Navarre, Arnaud Cuisinier, Jean Charles Richard, Francis Bearzatti, Javier Girotto, Michel Rosen and many others.
